Quora’s Poe has introduced a new feature called Poe Apps, allowing users to create and share custom AI-powered applications. This platform combines various AI models and provides an App Creator tool where users can describe the type of app they want to build. They can specify which models to use, such as OpenAI’s o3-mini or Google’s Veo 2, or provide more general requirements. The App Creator, powered by Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet, converts these descriptions into code, creating a user-friendly app interface with custom logic in JavaScript. Users can run their apps alongside Poe’s chatbot or as standalone visual interfaces, and they have the option to adjust the underlying code manually.
Quora has already developed a few example apps, including one that transforms photos into 3D anime-style artwork using OpenAI’s GPT-4o and another that removes unwanted objects from images with Bria’s Eraser model. Currently, users can share these apps only on the web, with plans for iOS and Android support in the future. Each time an app utilizes an AI model, it will consume points from the user’s Poe balance, which is replenished daily for free users or available in flexible packages for those on the $5 per month premium plan.
In a recent blog post, Quora announced that the App Creator is available at a special early-access price and hinted at future monetization options for app creators. The company expressed enthusiasm for the potential creations and improvements in Poe Apps as AI models advance further in their coding capabilities. This new feature builds on the web app functionality introduced last July and is similar to tools like Anthropic’s Artifacts and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Canvas, which allow users to edit and enhance AI-generated content. While the current capabilities of these apps are somewhat limited, they showcase significant progress in the programming abilities of AI models.
