Google has introduced a new feature for NotebookLM called Video Overviews, which uses AI to create narrated slideshows from saved content. Rolling out in English initially, with support for more languages coming soon, Video Overviews are designed to explain data, illustrate processes, and simplify complex concepts by combining AI narration with images, diagrams, quotes, and numbers from users’ documents. Playback tools, including skip and speed controls, make these AI-generated presentations easy to navigate.
The Video Overviews feature builds on the platform’s existing Audio Overviews, offering a more visual learning experience. Google plans to expand to additional formats, making NotebookLM a versatile tool for presenting and understanding information.
Alongside Video Overviews, NotebookLM’s Studio tab is getting significant updates. Users will now be able to create and save multiple outputs of the same type within a single notebook, such as generating multiple Audio or Video Overviews from one source. This change gives users more flexibility when managing different interpretations or use cases for the same content.
The Studio tab is also receiving a refreshed interface featuring four dedicated tiles for Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, Mind Maps, and Reports. According to Google, these updates will roll out to all users over the next few weeks.
With these new tools, Google is enhancing NotebookLM’s ability to turn stored information into interactive, AI-generated study materials and presentations, making it easier for users to learn, review, and share knowledge visually and effectively.
