Alibaba has introduced a major upgrade to its AI-powered Quark application, integrating its advanced Qwen-based reasoning model to enhance user experience. This marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to embed AI across its ecosystem.
The new version of Quark offers an intuitive interface with expanded AI capabilities, including chatbot assistance, deep research, academic support, document drafting, image creation, medical diagnostics, and travel planning. Users can ask complex questions and receive detailed, context-aware responses directly within the app’s search engine.
Wu Jia, CEO of Quark and vice president of Alibaba Group, highlighted the platform’s evolving potential, stating that Quark will serve as a gateway to limitless AI-driven possibilities. The launch aligns with Alibaba’s broader commitment to AI development, as outlined during its latest earnings report.
Over the next three years, the company plans to invest heavily in AI infrastructure, foundational model development, and AI-native applications, ensuring seamless integration across its services.
Alibaba Group CEO Eddie Wu emphasized the transformative impact of large AI models on search, productivity, and content creation. Originally launched in 2016 as a web browser, Quark has evolved into a leading AI-powered information services platform, now serving over 200 million users in China.
