Amazon Web Services (AWS) is reportedly preparing to launch an AI agent marketplace on July 15 during its upcoming AWS Summit. According to sources cited by TechCrunch, one of the platform’s key partners will be AI company Anthropic, though neither AWS nor Anthropic confirmed the details publicly when asked by PYMNTS.
The marketplace is expected to provide a centralized hub where startups and enterprises can offer and purchase AI agents. These agents are designed to carry out specific tasks autonomously, ranging from customer service functions to business process automation. By creating a single location for such tools, AWS aims to streamline the discovery and deployment of agentic AI technologies for its customers.
This move follows similar initiatives by major tech firms. Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow have all launched their own AI agent marketplaces over the past year. Microsoft’s Agent Store, for example, was introduced in May and currently offers more than 70 AI agents. It’s designed to serve both developers and non-technical users, helping them find agents tailored to specific business needs.
AWS has been aggressively expanding its AI services. CEO Andy Jassy previously stated that AWS is already generating billions in annual revenue from generative AI services and is positioning itself as the leading infrastructure provider for agentic AI. In March, AWS established a new internal group dedicated to developing agent-based systems. At the time, AWS CEO Matt Garman emphasized that AI agents could represent the company’s next major revenue stream, calling them essential to the future of innovation.
The upcoming marketplace launch reflects Amazon’s strategy to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing AI sector. The platform will make it easier for businesses to browse, test, and implement AI agents without complex development or integration efforts.
