Anthropic has introduced new capabilities to its Claude AI assistant, aiming to expand its usefulness in enterprise and productivity settings. The company launched two major features: Integrations and Advanced Research, now available in beta for Claude Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, with plans to extend access to Pro users soon. These additions are designed to help Claude compete more effectively with AI offerings from Google and OpenAI.
Integrations allow users to connect Claude with third-party apps and tools via Anthropic’s MCP protocol. This setup enables Claude to access data across connected environments, such as project management systems or content platforms, and perform tasks with contextual awareness. Anthropic says users can link Claude to tools like Atlassian’s Confluence, Zapier’s automation workflows, Cloudflare, Intercom, Square, and PayPal. By doing so, Claude can summarize content, create new documents, trigger workflows, and understand work context more deeply than before.
Advanced Research, the second major feature, enables Claude to carry out extensive research using both internal and external data sources. Unlike earlier versions, which delivered quick but shallow results, this new tool takes five to forty-five minutes to generate reports by breaking complex queries into smaller parts and analyzing each in depth. It uses connectors to scan across integrations and even locally stored files when using the Claude desktop app on macOS or Windows. The tool offers clear citations that link back to original sources, enhancing trust in the output.
Anthropic’s upgrades arrive as the company continues its pursuit of market share in the AI sector. Its revenue was reported at an annualized $1.4 billion as of March 2025, far from its long-term goal of $34.5 billion by 2027. The improved Claude features reflect an effort to match or surpass rivals like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok, especially in enterprise use cases.
