Figma has announced a major partnership with Google to integrate its Gemini AI models directly into the design platform, giving its 13 million monthly users new tools to work faster and more creatively. The collaboration adds Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4 into Figma’s toolkit, enhancing image generation, editing, and content creation. Early testing shows Gemini 2.5 Flash cuts latency by 50% in Figma’s “Make Image” feature, speeding up visual generation and editing.
For designers, this integration means they can create images with simple text prompts, quickly refine AI-generated visuals, and enjoy smoother collaboration. The move reflects Figma’s goal of using AI to handle repetitive tasks while freeing designers to focus on creativity and problem-solving.
The partnership also highlights a wider industry trend of AI companies teaming up with popular apps. Google has been pushing its Gemini models into platforms ranging from Mercedes to Deloitte, while Figma itself remains flexible by also appearing in OpenAI’s ChatGPT integrations. This strategy ensures the platform can adapt to a fast-changing AI landscape.
The timing aligns with Google’s broader rollout of Gemini Enterprise, a conversational AI platform for businesses. With 65% of Google Cloud customers already using AI, the company is betting that embedding Gemini into widely used tools will accelerate adoption across industries.
For the design world, the collaboration signals a shift toward AI as a creative assistant rather than a replacement. By speeding up workflows and reducing manual edits, Figma and Google aim to give teams more freedom to explore ideas and deliver finished products faster. As competition among AI leaders intensifies, this deal shows Figma’s intent to stay at the cutting edge by weaving powerful AI directly into the creative process.
