Google is offering its One AI Premium plan free of charge to eligible college students in the United States until June 30, 2026. Typically priced at $20 per month, this subscription will now be accessible to students at no cost for up to two years, provided they register by June 30, 2025. To sign up, students must have a valid .edu email address for verification.
The initiative aims to support students in their academic work by giving them access to advanced AI tools and cloud storage. A Google spokesperson confirmed that students will receive a reminder as their free plan nears its end, allowing ample time to cancel if they choose not to continue with a paid subscription.
The Google One AI Premium plan includes 2TB of cloud storage along with access to Gemini Advanced, which is powered by the Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model. This tool, comparable to ChatGPT Plus, helps users with tasks such as summarizing complex topics, transforming documents into audio formats, and enhancing productivity in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The package also includes Gemini Deep Research and NotebookLM Plus for further support in studying and content summarization.
Additionally, students will be able to use Google’s newer AI features such as Veo 2, a text-to-video generation tool, and Whisk, which enables users to combine text and image prompts to create unique outputs. These tools are designed to help students study more efficiently and creatively.
Google’s move follows similar education-focused offers by AI competitors OpenAI and Anthropic, both of which have also introduced free access programs targeting students. With AI becoming increasingly integrated into education and a growing part of daily digital life, the competition to engage young users is intensifying. By offering advanced AI tools for free, Google aims to secure its presence among the next generation of users while promoting the use of its growing ecosystem of AI-powered services.
