Perplexity AI Assistant Set to Feature in New Motorola Razr

Motorola’s upcoming Razr smartphone is expected to prominently feature Perplexity’s AI voice assistant, according to a report by Bloomberg. The new foldable device, scheduled for announcement on April 24, has already been teased in a video that highlights AI, suggesting it will be a major focus of the launch. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Motorola has partnered with Perplexity to integrate its AI assistant into the Razr alongside Google’s Gemini, offering users a choice between the two.

This move marks a notable shift as Motorola plans to design a unique interface specifically for interacting with Perplexity, aiming to make the experience appealing and user-friendly. The company reportedly intends to highlight Perplexity in its marketing campaign to attract users who are curious about AI-powered assistance. This integration is seen as a step toward positioning the Razr not just as a stylish foldable device, but also as a smart companion capable of simplifying everyday tasks.

Perplexity’s collaboration with Motorola is part of a broader strategy. The AI company is also working with Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile, on a new AI-focused smartphone. This so-called “AI Phone” would use intelligent agents to perform tasks such as booking flights or managing daily activities without relying on traditional apps. The goal is to streamline user interactions through voice-driven commands and automated assistance.

In addition, Perplexity is reportedly in early talks with Samsung to bring its assistant to Galaxy devices. While discussions are still in the initial stages, the idea of offering Perplexity as a default or preloaded option is being explored. Samsung currently uses Google’s Gemini as its primary AI assistant and search engine, so any potential deal with Perplexity would represent a significant shift in the AI landscape for mobile devices.

With AI integration becoming a competitive feature in smartphones, Motorola’s move to include Perplexity in its flagship Razr could signal a new direction in how consumers interact with their devices.
