xAI’s Grok chatbot has introduced a new feature called Grok Vision, allowing users to ask questions about what they see through their smartphone cameras. This update brings Grok closer to competitors like Google’s Gemini and ChatGPT, which already offer similar real-time visual recognition tools. With Grok Vision, users can point their phone at various objects, including products, signs, or documents, and receive instant explanations or details about what is in view. This functionality is currently available on the Grok app for iOS, while Android users will need to wait for its release on their platform.
The latest update also enhances Grok’s voice mode by integrating camera access. This means users can simply ask, “What am I looking at?” while pointing their device at any object, and the chatbot will analyze and respond based on what the camera captures. The feature enables the chatbot to interpret real-world objects, text, and surroundings, expanding its interactive capabilities.
Alongside Grok Vision, xAI has rolled out additional upgrades, including multilingual audio support and real-time search within voice mode. These new voice features are accessible to Android users as well, but only for those subscribed to the premium $30-per-month SuperGrok plan. The multilingual function now allows Grok to communicate in several languages, such as Spanish, French, Turkish, Japanese, and Hindi, broadening its accessibility to a global audience.
This update follows a series of steady improvements to Grok in recent weeks. Earlier in the month, xAI introduced a memory feature, allowing the chatbot to recall details from previous interactions, enhancing personalized responses. Grok also received a creative tool designed like a digital canvas, enabling users to build documents and applications directly within the platform.
With these new features, xAI continues to expand Grok’s functionality, positioning it as a versatile and interactive chatbot capable of assisting users through both voice and visual inputs.
